Exhibitions of the Grieg Art Collection are on display at the magnificent exhibition spaces of Oseana art and culture center, by the beautiful Bjørnafjord. Works are regularly on loan to museums and galleries in Norway and around the world. Per Grieg Sr. (1923–2024) started collecting art in the 1960’s, and continued his whole life. His main interest was in Norwegian art 1850–1910, but he also acquired works from the modern period and contemporary art. Highlights of his accessions include masterworks by Peder Balke, Christian Krohg, Nikolai Astrup, JC Dahl, Jakob Weidemann and Kai Fjell.

The last years, the collection has expanded not only in size, but also in scope, to include international contemporary art. Important works by female artists such as Marina Abramović, Rebecca Horn, Candida Höfer and Kiki Smith has been added to the collection.
Developing, exhibiting and promoting the collection is an important part of Grieg Foundation’s work, by building on history with the eyes set on the broad horizons of the future.
